TECHNICAL SERVICES.

We offer a full range of consultancy and support services to printers, covering all the main printing processes of gravure, flexo, litho, silk screen and letterpress.

1. Migration Testing and Food Packaging.

The impact of the EuPIA Regulation (EC) No 2023/2006 sets out rules on Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). This regulation has an annex referring to printing inks applied to the non-food contact side of primary food packaging. It is well known that migration can occur within reels or stacks, and that ink and coating components (such as photoinitiators used in UV curing products) transfer to the food contact side of the packaging.

Pulse Speciality Products have extensive experience in this area and can advise on the GMP controls to apply within the printing process to ensure compliance with the legislation.

Migration testing is a key element of this compliance- whether it be a periodic test of the integrity of the process or a more frequent check to ensure compliance with the migration limits for the individual components.

2. Complaint Evaluation.

We offer a fully independent and highly experienced evaluation service to pinpoint the causes of costly rejections and complaints. Emphasis is on a clearly focussed and rapid response to provide a fully supported and timely conclusion as to the cause of the problem.

3. Expert Witness. We are also able to provide expert witness testimony if required.

4. Ink Evaluation and Testing

Commercial Evaluation.As part of a tendering process, we will perform a comprehensive commercial evaluation of different ink suppliers proposals against those of the incumbent supplier. Using well proven laboratory techniques, supported by fully controlled on press mileage trials, a clear, independent statistical analysis will enable the printer to validate any claims made by potential new ink suppliers.

Ink Cost Reduction Planning.

We offer assistance with, or complete control of the ink supply tendering process, to ensure that the printer is able to conclude the very best commercial offer possible.

Supply Performance Monitoring.

We offer an ongoing program of testing and support to ensure that the product standards established at the start of an ink supply contract are fully maintained throughout the term.

5. Outsourced Technical Facilities
